Fontaleoni Vernaccia Di San Gimignano 2021 (Tuscany, Italy) TWO BOTTLES: Fontaleoni is a small estate whose vineyards are located at 200 meters above sea level, the ideal altitude for growing the Vernaccia varietal. Low yields of grapes, careful harvest and pressing of this fragile grape, along with conscientious winemaking, have produced Vernaccia wines that continue to grow in quality and fame. Fontaleoni’s Vernaccia di San Gimignano is a lively dry white wine.

A white-wine grape grown in Italy's Tuscany region, primarily southwest of Florence around the medieval hilltop town of San Gimignano. Vernaccia di San Gimignano dates back as far as the thirteenth century, and its origins are thought to be Greek. The wines produced from this variety vary tremendously. Traditionally made, they're golden in color, rich and full bodied, with an oxidized style and a slightly bitter edge to the flavor. More modern wine-making techniques produce paler-colored wines with crisper, lighter characteristics. - The New Wine Lovers Companion

Poggio di Bortolone Vittoria Frappato 2021 (Sicily, Italy) TWO BOTTLES: Very light ruby red wine with very intense nose hints of small red fruits: cherries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. In the mouth it is lively and fresh, subtle but continuous; small red fruits are also found in the mouth.

Frappato di Vittoria or Frappato is a red Italian wine grape variety planted primarily in Sicily. As a varietal, Frappato produces light bodied wines with a distinct grapey aroma. It is most commonly seen as a component of Sicily's only DOCG wine, Cerasuolo di Vittoria, which consists of 30-50% Frappato and 50-70% Nero d'Avola. - wikipedia

Boeri Barbera d'Asti 2021 (Piedmont, Italy) TWO BOTTLES: Intense ruby red color with young/bright bouquet including spicy notes. On the palate, pronounced cherry and plum with age acquires notes or rich jam and delicious full and harmonious finish.

Wines produced in Italy's Piedmont from the vineyard around the towns of Asti, Alexandra and Casale Monferrato. These wines are generally regarded as slightly less full-bodied than those from Barbera d'Alba, even though both are made from the Barbera grape. They should be drunk young. - The New Wine Lovers Companion
