Sazerac "6-YEAR" Straight Rye Whiskey (Kentucky)
Producer Notes: "The One and Only New Orleans Original. Sazerac Rye Whiskey symbolizes the tradition and history of New Orleans. Rye Whiskey that dates back to the 1800’s, around the time when saloons, veiled as Coffee Houses, began lining the streets of New Orleans. It was at the Sazerac Coffee House on Royal Street where local patrons were served toddies made with Rye Whiskey and Peychaud’s Bitters. The libation became known as the “Sazerac” and America’s first branded cocktail was born. This is the whiskey that started it all.
Aromas of clove, vanilla, anise and pepper. Subtle notes of candies spices and citrus. The big finish is smooth with hints of licorice."
Wine Enthusiast, 95 Points & BEST BUY: “Vanilla and caramel aromas invite. The palate echoes those flavors up front, evolving into lemon and grapefruit peel midpalate. The finish is drying and brisk, with a flurry of baking spice plus a mild herbaceous note. Versatile workhorse for cocktails, including its namesake"
Whisky Advocate, 91 Points: "Fresh orange, raspberry, caramel candy corn, cotton candy, and lemon aromas, with a hint of fresh banana. On the palate, smooth, spiced, and fruity, with notes of candied watermelon, cherry hard candy, and overall candied sweetness, with a dash of pepper spice. The finish is smooth, with muted sweetness and fruit notes of raspberry sorbet—spicy but well-textured and of medium length, with a great veneer of softness and emerging spice."
