Producer Notes: At 22, Felipe de Jesus Cortés is among the youngest maestro mezcaleros working at such a high caliber. Growing up in the mezcal community of rural Miahuatlán alongside his father Margarito and brother Job, Felipe de Jesus spent formative years working for Mezcaloteca, operating their bottling facility.

Despite being one of his first commercial releases, this batch of Madrecuixe is proof of that pedigree: kicking off with distinctive fruit-forward aromas of banana, cantaloupe rind, mandarin orange, fresh plums & kiwi, the mezcal’s second wave brings undercurrents of sweet carrot and wet wool. Decadent yet herbaceous & green on the palate, there are hints of carob, caramel cream, tamarind, milk duds, cilantro and fennel playing complex and thrilling games which linger in the imagination long after the sip has been swallowed.
