Saintsbury "Sangiacomo Vineyard" Chardonnay 2018 (Carneros,CA)
Producer Notes: Zesty notes of lime, kumquats and green pineapple, with powdered lily aromas. On the palate this wine is energetic from the start with tangy citrus, white peach and cloves.
Suggested pairings include braised chicken thighs with Meyer lemons and olives, whole grilled fish, and Cowgirl Creamery Mt. Tam or Cabot Clothbound Cheddar cheeses.
James Suckling, 93 Points: “Ripe apricot with salted butter and mango on the nose. Smoke and flint, too. It’s full-bodied and wonderfully creamy. Crisp acidity and lingering, cream notes. Drink or hold."
Wine Enthusiast, 91 Points: “Made in an elegant, austere and refined style, this tastes of apple skin, pear and just a hint of peach. With well-integrated oak providing a foundation, it has a rich underbelly of baking spice.
Jeb Dunnuck, 90 Points: “The 2018 Chardonnay Sangiacomo Vineyard is a lively, fresher styled Chardonnay that still has classic California richness. Buttered orchard fruits, lemon curd, and honeyed flower notes all give way to a medium-bodied Chardonnay that's nicely balanced, has solid depth of fruit and texture, and a clean finish."
