J. Schram (by Schramsberg) Blanc de Blancs 2013 (California)
Producer Notes: The 2013 J. Schram Blancs opens with the attractive aromas of baked peach, caramel apple, marzipan, and brioche, and finishes with nuances of vanilla custard and bright lemon curd. The elegant palate delivers seamless and concentrated flavors, tropical and citrus fruits, layered with creamy notes of sponge cake and graham cracker. A long finish is driven by a generous and lively acidity.
Wine Enthusiast, 97 Points: J. Schram releases aromas of fresh and baked green apple, lemon zest, justcut grass, fresh and dried chamomile flowers, along with notes of pastry and crusty bread. The palate is carried by those leesy tones, whilst always maintaining an aura of fruit and florals. The acidity along with a kiss of sea-salt salinity rounds out the tasting perfectly. All characteristics continue to intertwine elegantly throughout the lingering finish.
Wine Spectator, 94 Points: Plush and full-bodied, this (as always) is a decadent bottle of bubbly. Delivers rich and detailed baked apple, brioche, fresh ginger and graham cracker flavors that fan out on a luxurious finish. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Drink now through 2024.
