Prunotto Barolo 2018 (Piedmont, Italy)
Producer Notes: Prunotto’s Barolo is garnet red in color. The nose is complex and generous with pleasing aromas of rose petals, red fruit and spicy notes. The palate is full, well-balanced with velvety tannins.
James Suckling, 92 Points: Strawberries with perfumes and flowers on the nose. Very perfumed. Rose petals. Hints of watermelon, too. A medium-bodied Barolo with fine tannins and fresh fruit. Lovely energy and delicacy.
Wine Spectator, 92 Points: Smooth and almost viscous in texture, setting the stage for maraschino cherry, rhubarb and earth flavors. There is a hint of bitter almond as this red winds down on the lazy finish. Best from 2025 through 2038.
Wine Enthusiast, 91 Points: Bright and lifted tart red fruit notes permeate the nose on this pretty Barolo. As the wine opens, it unveils a solid core of cherry mixed with rosebud and a touch of minerality. The palate highlights the ripe red fruit notes which are hemmed in by the fine youthful tannins and bright acidity. The wine is generous and giving making it a good Barolo to drink now.
