Double Lucky 8 (by Cayuse) Red Wine 2018 (Walla Walla, WA)
VINOUS, 94 Points: A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Tempranillo, mostly sourced from younger vines, the 2018 Double Lucky #8 shows a gorgeous bouquet of freshly tilled loamy soils, green olive tapenade, black tea and wild blackberry compote aromas that all meld in the glass. The palate is already beautifully evolved, showing tar, leather, black currant jelly, orange rind and umami tones that come together nicely. The salinity, weight and length of the wine add to the complexity. —Owen Bargreen, Vinous
Wine Spectator, 93 Points: This is dynamic and boldly structured yet retains finesse, with bright raspberry, espresso, smoked meat and black pepper flavors that build richness toward refined tannins. Grenache, Syrah and Tempranillo. Drink now through 2029. —Tim Fish, Wine Spectator
