Dehlinger "Altamont" Pinot Noir 2016 (Russian River Valley, CA)
Producer Notes: Dehlinger's Altamont Pinot Noir celebrates the hilltop sections of the vineyard, where red, clay-rich soil dominates. The Altamont Pinot Noir showcases darker fruit flavors and enticing baking-spice aromas, and the inclusion of a small amount of whole clusters in the fermentation lends greater structure and enhanced aging potential in this sought-after wine.
Vinous, 94 Points: "The 2016 Pinot Noir Altamont is a dense, beautifully resonant wine. Next to the Goldridge, the Altamont has quite a bit more textural depth and overall intensity. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, rose petal, mint and blood orange all run through this expressive, pliant Pinot Noir. Today, the 2016 is quite forbidding. I would give it a few years in the cellar to fully come together. The 8% whole clusters add aromatic top notes, but aren't especially noticeable."
Wine Spectator, 90 Points: “Minerally and filled with plenty of fresh-crushed spice and dried herbal notes to the ebullient dried raspberry, currant and cherry flavors. Cocoa powder accents show on the finish."
