Hourglass HGIII Red Wine 2017 (Napa Valley, CA)
Winery Notes: Rich, textural layers define HG III. The 2017 greets with lifted aromatics of wild cherry, blueberry, cassis, and subtle hints of dried flowers and savory herbs. These aromas carry forward on the palate, the medley of saturated, pure fruit flavors providing dimension to the broad-shouldered, sumptuous texture. Dense and concentrated, yet balanced by lively acidity, a refined structure and well-integrated tannins, HG III delivers an eminently drinkable wine at cork-pull.
Jeb Dunnuck, 90 Points: “As to the reds, the 2017 HG III showed well. A Merlot-dominated blend, it has lots of spice, incense, and dried herb notes as well as a core of chocolaty fruit. Medium to full-bodied, forward, balanced, and undeniably delicious, enjoy bottles over the coming 7-8 years."
Wine Advocate, 90 Points: “The 2017 HG III is a blend of 60% Merlot, 17% Petite Sirah, 5% Syrah, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon plus some mixed field blends. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it has a pretty perfume of baked black cherries, plum pudding and spice cake with wafts of wilted roses and garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is filled with evocative juicy black and blue fruits, framed by plush tannins, finishing spicy."
