Beaulieu Vineyard "Tapestry" Red Wine 2016 (Napa Valley, CA)
Producer Notes: This is a wine that shows the artistry of blending five Bordeaux-heritage grape varieties, which contributed layer-upon-layer of flavor complexity. Cabernet Sauvignon gave the wine its generous core of briary blackberry and cassis expression, while we increased the amount of Merlot this year to tame the tannins and add plush mid-palate texture. Malbec contributed deep plum notes, while Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot completed the blend with nuances of rose, forest loam and graphite.
Jame Suckling, 93 Points: "A tight and deep wine with a beautiful center palate of currants, berries, lemon rind and silky tannins. Rich and opulent, yet fresh. Lightly chewy with a caressing texture. 78% cabernet sauvignon and 11% merlot with malbec, petit verdot and cabernet franc.”
Wine Enthusiast, 91 Points: “TThis blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 4% Malbec, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc is thick and leathery in style. It has full-bodied richness in flavors of dark chocolate and blackberry that work well alongside firm tannins and integrated oak.”
