Maritana, La Riverie, Chardonnay 2018 (Russian River Valley, CA)

Producer Notes: Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley. This is the name (meaning the River) for our blend of vineyards. The blend came together and has really married in the barrel. This style remains the same as 2017 – a balanced wine with richness as well as freshening acidity. Drinkable on release – it will become more complex for the next 5-8 years if properly stored.

James Suckling, 92 Points "A pretty chardonnay with cooked-apple and pineapple character. Some vanilla and cream, too. It’s full-bodied and layered with lots of fruit and attractive, toasted-oak and yogurt undertones. Typical and luscious. Drink now.”

Wine Enthusiast, 91 Points: From a blend of sites, this appellation wine is robustly built and structured. Given time in 10% new oak, it combines clones as well as place, showing intensely layered elements of quince, fig and baked pear. Nutmeg and vanilla oak round it out further.
